Abstract This collection consists of a letter from Alfred Roessel, a German POW being held in Camp Crossville, Tenn., to his wife, Irmgard Roessel, in Leipzig, Germany. It discusses the weather in Crossville, the camp's scenery, and various of Roessel's activities. It also lets Irmgard know that her "lovely photograph" arrived safely, and conveys greetings to his family. Alfred William Douglass Letter

Abstract

In a March 19, 1849 letter to his cousin D. C. Clint Douglass in Lebanon, Tenn., Alfred William Douglass writes of the increase in students enrolled at his school, his desire that Clint remain another year in law school, and his dislike of life in the city. He also notes that there is no alarm here about cholera, though there are some deaths nearly every day.

Alice Bass Luttrell Memoir

Abstract

This collection consists of a Xerox copy of Alice Bass Luttrell’s memoir. The memoir traces the family history from the immigration of Joseph Phillips from Wales in the mid-18th century to Luttrell's personal child remembrances. Alice Boehret Correspondence

Overview

This collection consists of correspondence written by Alice Boehret during her service with the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. Boehret wrote almost daily letters between 1942 and 1946 to her family, mainly her sisters and mother, and document her time in the European Theater of War, particularly with the 74th General Hospital.

All the Way Home Script

Abstract

This collection consists of an original copy of the script of the 1962 film All the Way Home, based on Tad Mosel's stage play of the same name and James Agee's novel A Death in the Family. The screenplay was written by Philip Reisman, Jr., and the film was produced by Paramount Pictures. This copy is dated September 5, 1962 and contains handwritten annotations, possibly by a member of the production crew.

Allen J. Clifton Letter

In this letter to his mother (written near Knoxville, Tennessee), Allen Clifton reports on his unit's position and supplies, describes the weather, mentions that he is in good health, inquires about the health and doings of family members and friends, and asks for some postage stamps. He also asks about the returned veterans and solicits his mother's opinion of his decision not to re-enlist.

Alonzo Frink Letters

Abstract

In twenty letters between 1863 and 1864, Alonzo Frink, a Union soldier with the 32nd Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry, Company B, describes camp life and news of military successes in the Civil War to his wife Emily in Mason City, Iowa. The letters from early 1863 were written from Fort Pillow in Lauderdale County, Tenn., while those from the second half of the year were from Columbus, Ky.
